12:00 PM. On occasion there will be nobody staying in your house immediately following your check out. If you wish to have an extended check out you must first check with the rental office to see if it is okay.
What are the rental office hours? The rental office usually opens at 9:00 AM and closes around 6:00 PM. If you are a arriving after 6:00 PM please contact the office ahead of time and they will leave a map to your house with a in the office. You will then the need to check in with the office the following morning for a formal check. The staff in the office typically it is bilingual and you should not have any problems if you cannot speak Spanish.
Is there general store in Cabo Pulmo? There is a small store that stocks canned goods boxed and juices soda is and packaged snacks. They also occasionally have fresh vegetables and fruits and some other food items. If you want a larger selection of food you will need to shopping and La Rivera or San Jose Del Cabo. The vegetable pick-up truck visits Cabo Pulmo once-or-twice-a-week depending upon season, usually Sunday and Wednesday. The bakery truck from La Paz comes once-a-week on Wednesday afternoons about 3PM. The fish truck comes on Tuesdays, sometimes every week, sometimes only twice a month.
Are there medical services in Cabo Pulmo? No. The nearest medical services are in La Rivera which is 20 miles north of Cabo Pulmo. For more serious injuries a hospital in San Jose would be contacted to pick up the injured person in La Ribera. Always check with your doctor if there is any doubt in your mind about traveling to Los Cabos. Medical service in Los Cabos is not as sophisticated as in the U.S. or Canada, and the hospital is not equipped for severe trauma cases.
What phone number should I leave for emergencies? To call Cabo Pulmo from the United States you would dial 011-52 (624) 141-0244 and ask the office for help.
Do we have to bring pesos to Cabo Pulmo? American dollars are accepted everywhere in Cabo Pulmo. Credit cards are only accepted in the dive center and for your accommodations. Remember that once your dollars are changed to pesos, they can not easily be changed back to dollars. It is best to exchange only what you plan to spend. It's a good idea to bring along plenty of $1's, $5's, and $10's.
Is it safe to walk around the Cabo Pulmo at night? Yes. There is very virtually no crime in Cabo Pulmo, and what little there is, is usually very petty. Use your common sense with your valuables. Out of site- out of mind.
Are there bugs, dangerous animals, or water hazards in Cabo Pulmo? The bugs are more prevalent in Cabo Pulmo following rains. The most annoying are mosquitoes and they grow out of standing water. During the late summer months we recommend you bringing bug repellent. If you will be hiking in the hills be careful where you walk because snakes do live in the desert, including the rattlesnakes. Although the Cabo Pulmo bay is a very safe and protected from any large waves we ask everybody entering the water to use extra caution with the little blue bubbles on the surface. These are small stinging jellyfish in the water. These can cause a burning rash that lasts for a day or two.
Will my cellular phone work in Cabo Pulmo? No.
What are the rules of the Marine Park? No fishing from your boat No open fires No driving on the beach No touching or standing on any reefs or corals.

Rental Houses in Cabo Pulmo
What do I need to bring with me? Be careful that you don't over pack as dress is very casual in Cabo Pulmo. In addition to your personal clothing and toiletries bring: Beach towels Sun hat Sunglasses Sunblock or sunscreen Sandals or water shoes Walking or hiking shoes Flashlight and batteries (important) Sweater or light jacket Insect repellent (important) Specialty drinks or liquor Don't forget your camera and plenty of film. Coffee beans Extra cash (don’t be shy here, many people run out)
Although the following items are not necessary, they can make your stay more enjoyable and are not readily available for rent in Cabo Pulmo. Life jackets for small children Beach chairs Beach umbrellas (we have rentals) Sand toys Inflatable rafts and toys Personal snorkeling gear Beach bags Ice coolers (personal igloos are great)
Do we need to bring our own food? There are several restaurants in Cabo Pulmo, but if you wish to cook for yourself, each house has a well equipped kitchen with all of the supplies to needed to cook. Each house has a midsized propane refrigerator that will keep your food cool. If you like cold drinks bring ice and maybe a good cooler for the beer. The propane refrigerators are not like your electric one at home! Otherwise, you can purchase beer and sodas at the local restaurants.
Are there restaurants in Cabo Pulmo? Yes, there are four restaurants in Cabo Pulmo. Tito's servers excellent seafood but has inconsistent operating hours. El Caballero serves good Mexican food and has very consistent operating hours, usually opening around 8 AM and closing at 10 PM. Nancy's restaurant is pricey but serves more gourmet type meals. La Palapa is a beachfront restaurant that serves tacos and beer. All of the restaurants serve beer and a few serves alcoholic beverages.
Is there electricity in Cabo Pulmo? Yes, each house is equipped with a solar system that charges its batteries. You must be very conscientious of your electrical usage especially on cloudy days. Once the batteries are emptied there is no way to recharge them except waiting for the solar power to charge the batteries the next day. So be careful in the day that there is no power turned on. Do not bringing any electrical appliances with you. However, some customers have large battery chargers for their underwater photo equipment that we like to ask them to charge them in the dive center where we have more power.
The water supply for all of Los Cabos is spring fed ground water. The water here is very pure, but be careful. The pipes used for distribution of the water supply and other factors can lead to contamination The well servicing this small community in Cabo Pulmo supplies reliably good, sweet water, piped underground to each house. A lot of people drink it right from the tap. Although many people drink the water directly from the tap, it is not recommended. Anywhere in the world a change in drinking water can cause stomach distress. We recommend that you drink only bottled or purified water. It is sold here at the Caballero restaurant in a large sparklets bottle if you prefer.
Why do we need to conserve water in Cabo Pulmo? The well water and federal permit to distribute the water to the houses is private. The permit is expensive and has a limit so the owners of the houses ask you to be very conscientious of your water use. Do not let the hose run excessively and keep your showers short. When doing dishes, try not to keep the water running. Every gallon is precious!
What type of housekeeping services do you offer? Your house will be cleaned upon your arrival. We offer additional daily housekeeping services for $10 per day. Upon your check out we will clean the house for you for no charge. We also have personal laundry service available for your clothes at a rate of $10 per load. This includes wash, dry and folding.
Do you recommend bringing children to the resort? We love children here. This is what makes Cabo Pulmo so different than many other vacation spots in the world. However, strollers and cradles are not available in Cabo Pulmo so bring your own for the infants if you like. There are lots of kids in the area that are bilingual and play together.
Are there telephones in the rental houses? No. This is why you are coming to Cabo Pulmo. To get awy from that phone! We do have a Radio-telephone available for $5 dollars per call and 1 dollar a minute for long distance. Email is not available.
Are there televisions, VCRs, or stereos in the houses? No. You are forced to communicate with your companion. Yikes!
Is there air-conditioning in the houses? No. Fans are included in each rental house. In cases of extreme heat exhaustion we have places in Cabo Pulmo with air-conditioning and cooler areas.
Do you allow pets in the rental houses? Generally no. If you want to bring a house trained indoor pet we can make exceptions with security deposits. The deposits are $100 USD.
How far from the beach are your rentals? It just depends on what house you are staying at. We have beach front where you walk out of your room you are on miles of sandy beaches. Ocean view is having a view of the ocean from your room, not beach front. Walking distance to the beach is always 5 minutes or less. If you need more privacy and open space, we will put you farther from the water.

Transportation
Where is Los Cabos and Cabo Pulmo? Cabo Pulmo is located on the Sea of Cortez at the south eastern tip of the Baja Peninsula in the State of Baja California Sur. Cabo Pulmo is approximately 1,000 miles south of San Diego, California, On the Tropic of Cancer at a latitude of 23.5 degrees. Cabo Pulmo is approximately 60 miles northeast of the Los Cabos International Airport.
Los Cabos is accessible by air from most major cities in the United States and Mexico. The flying time from Los Angeles and San Diego is approximately 2 hours. By land, Cabo is accessible via Highway 1, which runs the entire length of Baja California from the US border.
Do you offer transportation to get to Cabo Pulmo? The two most popular ways to get to Cabo Pulmo par with the rental car or with a private transportation service. Rental cars will run about $40 per day and give you greater flexibility to see the surrounding areas. A transportation van will cost about $160 each way and that doesn't matter if there is one person or 10 people in the van, it is a flat fee.
Do we need a four-wheel drive to get to Cabo Pulmo? No. Occasionally, following torrential rains and hurricanes the roads can get washed out and a truck or four-wheel drive would be helpful. This typically happens during the months of August and September, but can happen as early as July or as late as October.
What travel documents do I need? For American citizens proof of citizenship is all that is required for travel to Mexico. A U.S. passport valid for at least six months or a birth certificate with a raised seal accompanied by a photo I.D is required. Foreign citizens should check with appropriate consulates. You will be asked to fill out a Mexican Tourist Card on your flight down by the airline. This is the only requirement for U.S. citizens. Check with the airlines as far as acceptable documents for proof of citizenship. For non-American citizens check with your airline or the local Mexican Consulate for current requirements regarding visas. |

What is the weather like in Cabo Pulmo? Cabo Pulmo is located on the Tropic of Cancer, in the tropics. The landscape is desert-like, with a relatively dry similar to Southern California during most of the year. The climate is sunny and it's never cold. The area is arid with over 300 days of sunshine. Average annual rainfall is 5-10 inches (12.7-25.4cm), most with occurring during the months of September and October.
The average year-round temperature is 78F.
Cabo Pulmo is blessed with some of the best weather on earth. Nov through June the air temps stay in the 80’s and 90’s F during the day and rain is scarce. Jan-Mar is especially popular with the evenings cooling down enough to use a long sleeved shirt or light sweater. July to October heats up a bit with the warmest months being August and September with temps in the high 90’sF. Water temps are warmest in July through December reaching the mid 80’sF during this time.
What are the normal weather conditions throughout the year? December - February Weather systems in the USA create north winds in Cabo Pulmo favored by wind surfers and it gets the coldest during these months. Daytime winter temps are usually in the mid 70's to the mid 80's, night time temps usually in the mid 60's, ocean temps usually in the mid to low 70's, but never below 70.
March - May Spring is peak season in Southern Baja, with everyone wanting relief from the winter. Fishing and diving are excellent! The weather is temperate and perhaps the best we see all year, not too hot and not too cool, and usually calm. Daytime air temps average between mid 70's and mid 80's, nighttime temps in the high 60's and low 70's, water temps average from low to high 70's. Sometimes the Sea temperature can get a bit chilly, so if you are coming to dive then bring a good wetsuit. June is one of the best months of the year, with warm air, warm ocean, great fishing and diving.
June – September Fishing and diving are superb in summer! Cabo Pulmo’s daytime temps at the beach are in the mid to high 80's, occasionally climbing into the low 90's. Nighttime temps are near 80. Water temps are in the mid to high 80's and you can stay in the water for hours on end! Humidity does climb in summer, however Cabo Pulmo is blessed with ocean breezes which usually keeps air temps 10 to 15 degrees cooler than Los Cabos and La Paz.
October – November The Fall months of October and November run a close second to Spring for peak season, the fishing and diving are great! The ocean temps are still in the mid 80's in October, humidity's returning to normal levels, air temps are mid to high 80's in October, high 70's to mid 80's in November. Evenings are warm and pleasant. September is often the warmest month of the year and if humidity is going to be high, it will probably be September.
Do I have to worry about hurricanes? Most tropical storms you hear about from the Weather Channel in the East Pacific never reach landfall on the Baja Peninsula. The season for the possibility of hurricanes that might affect Cabo Pulmo is the six-week time-frame from the last week of August through the first-week of October. If you are staying with us and a government Hurricane Watch or Warning is posted, and you decide to return to the USA, you may come back and use the un-used portion of your pre-paid stay at a later date, within one year of your hurricane-caused departure.
What type of clothing should I pack? Packing for Cabo San Lucas should be light. It is usually nice, sunny and humid all year round. A jacket or sweater for those early mornings and cool nights is recommended. |

Making Reservations
How can I make a reservation for Cabo Pulmo? For easy online reservations click Cabopulmo reservation form. You can call us on the telephone or fax us.
Do I need to pay in full when I make my reservation? We require a 20% deposit to hold your reservation. The balance is due 60 days prior to your arrival date. We accept PayPal, VISA and MasterCard.
When will my credit card be charged? Depending on when you make the booking and when you are traveling. Normally we will charge your credit card with a deposit seven days from the date of making the reservation. The final charge will be made 60 days prior to your departure.
Will you call when my second payment is due? Normally we will not call before charging your final payment unless we have specific questions.
What is the cancellation policy? The initial 20% deposit with your confirmed reservations is non-refundable. If you cancel your reservation more than 30-days before your arrival you will receive a full refund minas the 20% deposit. If you cancel less than 30- days before your arrival, no refunds will be given, rain checks will be honored for 1 year.
